From PV Generation to Nighttime Lighting, Bosiwei Has Built Solar Street Lights as an Energy Management System

Oct 13, 2026

A solar street light cannot operate reliably simply because a PV panel, battery and luminaire are connected together. How much energy is collected during the day, how much can be stored, how the controller schedules output at night, and how long the luminaire can operate after cloudy periods together determine system reliability. Bosiwei has connected PV generation, battery storage, controller dimming and luminaire load, turning solar street lights from individual luminaires into complete energy management systems.

When confirming a project configuration, Bosiwei has included luminaire power, daily lighting hours, local solar conditions, cloudy periods and target illuminance in the system calculation. PV power is not simply better when it is larger, and battery capacity is not automatically more stable when it is larger; both have to match the luminaire load, charging time and nighttime operating curve. Through specifications, BOMs and sample-approval documents, the relationship between PV modules, batteries, controllers and luminaires is fixed before batch production.

The energy generated by the PV module first enters the controller and is then charged into the battery according to battery status and protection conditions. Bosiwei has included MPPT, overcharge protection, over-discharge protection, short-circuit protection and temperature protection in the relevant controller documents, keeping the logic between charging, discharging and luminaire output clear. For contractors, system stability depends not only on the peak wattage of a module but also on whether the controller can manage energy according to actual conditions.

The battery is the storage component that supports nighttime operation. For lithium-battery products, Bosiwei has prepared battery-safety documents, relevant BMS information, UN 38.3 test reports, SDS or MSDS, and applicable IEC 62619 testing or compliance materials. Battery capacity, installation position, temperature protection and maintenance method correspond to the luminaire and controller. This prevents a configuration that meets requirements at the sample stage from changing after entering batch production.

A controller does more than turn a lamp on and off. Bosiwei has included dimming schedules, time-based control, low-voltage protection, fault records and communication methods in specifications or commissioning documents. The system can arrange output for the first and second parts of the night and can reduce the load when battery energy is low, avoiding premature protection activation. For remote roads and projects with long maintenance distances, controller operating information also helps contractors determine whether a fault is on the generation, storage, control or load side.

Lighting points on village roads and remote communities in East Africa are widely distributed and site maintenance conditions are limited. Bosiwei has included independent operation, English wiring labels, commissioning steps and fault checks in the delivery documents, allowing site teams to inspect connections between modules, batteries, controllers and luminaires. Where CE, EMC, RoHS and SONCAP, PVOC or COC materials are required, they are also matched by product category and destination, keeping system documents consistent with customs files.

For industrial parks, warehouse roads and camps in Gulf markets, energy management is also affected by heat, dust, strong ultraviolet exposure and panel soiling. Bosiwei has included panel cleaning, controller operating range, battery temperature protection, luminaire IP protection and thermal design in the product documents. For Saudi markets, SASO, Saber and related shipping documents remain linked to the actual model, allowing customers to check environmental adaptation, system configuration and market-entry documents together.

For rural roads, tourism roads and community-lighting projects in Latin America, long-distance transport and changing site conditions can affect mounting angles, panel orientation and luminaire loads. Bosiwei has maintained the relationship between system design and site construction through installation files, photometric documents, foundation dimensions and wiring labels. When road width, pole height or arm angle changes, contractors can return to the original illuminance calculations and system configuration instead of changing components based only on experience.

Remote roads, mines and industrial sites in Australia place greater emphasis on the continuous operation and maintenance access of the storage system. Bosiwei has matched pole structures, foundation designs, IP and IK protection, coating or salt-spray information, and RCM and other destination-market documents to the actual products. Lithium-battery products are also accompanied by UN 38.3 test materials and SDS or MSDS. For heat, dust, wind loads and long maintenance intervals, system configuration and structural files remain within the same delivery relationship.

Municipal roads, campuses and parks in Europe pay attention not only to whether the luminaires turn on but also to illuminance, uniformity, energy performance and document consistency. Bosiwei has prepared basic CE-LVD, EMC and RoHS materials around actual models and matched CB, ENEC or TUV test materials, relevant IEC 60598 safety requirements, and LM-79 and LM-80 performance materials where required. Photometric curves, DIALux or other illuminance calculations and solar operating modes correspond, allowing contractors to check lighting performance and energy configuration together.

Projects at coastal ports, on island roads and in fisheries parks must also address the effects of salt spray, humidity and strong winds on modules, luminaires, battery compartments and control enclosures. Bosiwei has included the materials and surface treatment of poles, brackets, fasteners, enclosures and battery compartments in the product documents, reviewing applicable conditions against IP, IK, salt-spray tests, coating information, ISO 12944 and C5-M requirements. Generation, storage and lighting components are matched to the same environmental conditions instead of focusing only on the luminaire.

Bosiwei has also maintained batch consistency in the energy system through specifications, BOMs, serial numbers, batch records, packing lists and spare-parts lists. When PV modules, batteries, controllers, connectors or luminaires change, customers can check the difference through the batch documents. When replenishment or replacement is required, they can continue with the original model. Battery and controller files are retained so after-sales staff can determine whether an abnormality requires inspection on the generation, storage, control or lighting-load side.

Jiangsu Bosiwei Optoelectronics Group covers solar street lights, LED road lights, high-mast lights, garden lights, smart poles, landscape lighting, traffic signals and related poles. Through continuing overseas project delivery, Bosiwei has connected PV-module matching, battery storage, MPPT control, dimming operation, photometric calculations, certification documents, site installation and later maintenance. For engineering, export, wholesale and OEM/ODM customers, a solar street light is no longer only a luminaire model but an energy management system that can be configured, commissioned, accepted and operated over time.

The technical value of a solar street light is not determined by how many parameters are printed on the product. It is determined by whether PV generation, storage, electrical control and lighting output work together. Bosiwei has built these relationships into its products and engineering documents, allowing customers to understand the role of each component and maintain the system by model, batch and fault records after operation begins.
